With the existing play equipment reaching the end of its lifespan, this upgrade focused on enhancing safety, accessibility and play value for children of all ages and abilities. The revitalised play space combines modern play elements with respectful integration into the historic character of the gardens.
Scope of Works
The St Vincent Gardens upgrade included a comprehensive civil and landscape package, covering:
- D&C Irrigation
- Construction of a new park entrance with pedestrian access ramps and stairs
- Installation of bluestone paving, irregular seating walls and picnic facilities
- Creation of a sandpit zone with timber decking, water play and interactive edges
- Construction of a large treehouse structure built around existing trees
- Improved pathway surfaces and accessibility throughout the park
- Integration of bespoke play structures, shade elements and coordinated services

- Sheltered picnic area with seating, mesh shade structure and bluestone gathering space
- Custom-built fern frond structure for visual impact and functional shade
- Upgraded raised paths improving movement and usability across the park

The upgrade has transformed St Vincent Gardens into a safe, welcoming and inspiring play environment that meets Australian Safety Standards while celebrating the heritage character of the site.
The project has now moved into a 12-month maintenance period to ensure optimal landscape establishment so families can enjoy it well into the future.
